Traditional
In this collection, the colour of the clay itself is already a statement: with no showy glazes or elaborate palettes, it is the natural tone of the fired earth that evokes, on its own, Portuguese culture — the same earthy red as village roof tiles, the same clay from which pots, basins and tools have been made for generations. Here, the material is not merely a support for form: it is, in itself, an essential part of the message.
The chosen motifs — little Portuguese houses and donkeys — are two pillars of the country's rural imagination. The little houses, in their almost archetypal simplicity, suggest the village, closeness, everyday life made up of repeated gestures. The donkeys, faithful working companions in the fields, bring with them patience, persistence and a deep connection to the land — not by chance, the very name from which Burros e Artes takes its origin. Together, the two figures compose a modest and honest portrait of traditional Portuguese life.
Each piece is hand-shaped, unhurried, leaving the clay room to show its own marks — small variations in colour, texture and form, which make each little house and each donkey a unique piece within the collection. More than decorative objects, these figures are small fragments of collective memory, made from the same earth that sustains the traditions they represent.
